East Coast of Australia Travel Itinerary.

Let me start by telling you this was one part of a big trip. I started this trip with a friend of mine at the time and we did 3 months in South East Asia, then we moved onto Sydney where we stayed and worked – my friend left after a few months and I stayed on by myself and then I solo travelled Australia’s East Coast and New Zealand. Best decision I ever made.

You can find a bunch of other itineraries, tips, tricks and info for all the countries I visited under the travel section of this blog or there’s some links in the paragraph above. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comment section!

Now let’s get started…

Me and my big old red backpack (find my packing guide here!) left NZ and headed for my first stop – Cairns - and boy was it muggy. My original plan was to stay in cairns for 4 nights, however as per normal nothing ever goes exactly to plan…unfortunately there was lots of flooding in-between Cairns and Townsville which was my next stop meaning I had to stay in cairns a few more days. But I’ve always said everything happens for a reason, the reason was to meet my now good friend and travel buddy who I continued to meet up with along the East Coast and now have future travel plans with. Funny how things turn out.

Here’s what I got up to in cairns:

- Cape Tribulation day trip (Uncle Brian’s)

- Waterfalls day trip (Uncle Brian’s)

- The Great Barrier Reef day trip

I loved and would recommend all of the trips I went on!

Next, I was finally able to head to Townsville via the Greyhound where I caught the ferry over to Magnetic Island. There are only 2 hostels on Magnetic island and I stayed one called ‘Base’. Stunning views and a pretty good atmosphere – something to bare in mind is that, it is an island so expect a few extra bugs! I was there for 2 nights, the island is known for a few things such as:

- Renting ‘barbie’ cars and touring the island

(it shouldn’t take more than a day to see the whole place)

- Seeing wild wallaby’s

- Koala Sanctuary

- Simply chilling at the beach

Here is the outline of my trip consisted of;

- Airlie Beach

- 2 day 2 nights Whitsundays sailing trip

- 2 nights Rainbow Beach

- 3 day 2 night Fraser island 4x4 tag along camping adventure all inclusive

- 2 nights Noosa

- 1 night Brisbane

- 2 nights Surfers Paradise

- 3 nights Byron Bay

- Dolphin kayaking half day
